About Us

'Our mission is to provide you with the best products at our best price, giving you sound advice, outstanding service and the very best customer experience. We want all our customers to leave our shop or website with a smile on their face and enjoy cycling whatever bike they ride'

Based on Hollyhedge Road in Wythenshawe, Manchester, Threadgold Cycles is one of the oldest, most established bike shops in the United Kingdom. Stocking a wide range of mountain bikes, road bikes, commuter hybrid bikes, bmx, kids bikes and specialising in tricycles and retro traditional bikes we have been keeping the folk of Manchester, Cheshire and beyond cycling for well over a century.

The Past

Back in the 1905 Threadgold Cycles was more than a bike shop, we sold motorbikes, paraffin, light bulbs, fuses, and lawnmower parts to name but a few things! Generation after generation have bought bikes, parts and accessories from us.

Three generations of the Threadgold family have served the families of South Manchester and Cheshire for over 106 years.

The Present

In February 2011 Lynton and Ann Threadgold decided it was time to down tools and hand the realm over to a new set of cycling enthusiasts, Paul and Caroline Briggs.

After years in the industry, Paul fulfilled his lifelong dream of owning his own bike shop. Pauls love for cycling started at young age when he fixed and 'did up' his mates bikes. As a teenager riding with Salford Cycling Club his passion only increased and then came the world of mountain biking.

Paul is a loyal hard tail cross country rider whilst appreciating and understanding all disciplines.

Caroline has been what some may call a 'cycling widow' for almost 17 years now so has a good grounding on all things bike related! With a successful background in business development and marketing and with massive love for all things retro, Caroline can be seen riding a new 2012 Giant BLVD2 custom.

With workshop manager Terry Morris, the team at Threadgold Cycles are all cycling enthusiasts with years of experience and knowledge on all cycling disciplines and the full ranges of bikes and accessories.

So what makes us different from other bike shops? Well, Terry's every changing hair is certainly different and worth a look at but the thing that sets us apart is our unparalleled levels of customer service. We go out of our way to make sure you buy the right bike or product for you, we're not in the habit of selling you things you don't need or want, or charging you for repairs you bike doesn't need, at Threadgold Cycles it's all about you, our customer.

Whatever kind of riding you do, a novice, expert or veteran you will be welcomed into Threadgold Cycles like an old friend, there is no 'clique' no 'in crowd' just friendly, down to earth, helpful, passionate bike people.

In store we currently stock Giant, GT, Charge, NS, Wethepeople, Premium, Haro, Radio, Cuda, Mongoose, Mission, DiBlassi, Bronx and Probike & Viking bikes. And if you have a 1932 Royal Enfield or similar we will more than likely be able to find that special part!

The Future

We've got some exciting plans for the shop, in 2013, we will be bringing on board new ranges and refurbishing the interior but it won't be like every other bike shop, we will be embracing our heritage and going for something completely different so watch this space people - it's gonna be special!
